The induction is to be provided by a responsible person. The training is to be practical and use can be made of booklets, slides, videos and interactive verbal communication. Records are to be kept of the training.
Suggested syllabus should include at least the following:
General advice:
- your duties and responsibilities
- your health & safety
- the safety of those working with you
Emergencies
- emergency drills
- fire
- first aid
General hazards of the task &working environment
Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) requirements
Reporting of accidents /incidents
Once-off training is not sufficient. A formal program of well-planned on-going training in safety, health and environmental protection is essential.
